KALU DROPS OUT OF EAGLES

Few days to the opening ceremony of the Nation’s Cup, Crisis is silently brewing in the camp of the super eagles. Yesterday night, the news flew in that Rizespor forward, Uche Kalu has ruled himself out of the Nigerian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. Kalu has struggled to recuperate from a groin injury he picked up in his club’s engagement and has opted to leave Nigeria’s pre-Afcon camp in Faro, Portugal.

While the action of Kalu to be truthful must be saluted unequivocally, his leaving the eagle’s camp is not a good omen for the team. After Shola Ameobi’s decision to stay with his club and earn a starting berth, in the wake of Demba Ba’s move to Chelsea, and the now infamous decision to omit the likes of Osaze and Martins, the absence of Kalu will surely be felt in the team as the Attacking potential of the team has been depleted.

Uche Kalu have been in the form of his life for his club in turkey, scoring goals with ease and class and this was why Keshi invited him. However, the former Enyimba forward could not train with the rest of  the squad this week owing to the injury and had been placed under close supervision by the Nigerian team doctor.

He also missed out of Wednesday’s friendly against Catalonia where another striking potential introduced himself to the World. MLS player, Bright Dike is now expected to lead the front line for Nigeria alongside Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses and IK Uche.

No Martins, Osaze, Yakubu, Anichebe and Sone Aluko yet Keshi is confident the Super Eagles will Succeed in the competition. Only time will Tell!!!
